Our Staff

Mrs. Zoraida Arledge was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She has worked as an Economist for the government of Puerto Rico. In 1990, she moved to the United States where she met and married her husband Myron. Myron and Zoraida moved to Blythewood, SC. They strongly believe in treating people with dignity and respect.

Myron W. Arledge has been with Dunbar Funeral Home since the opening in 2009. He and his wife Zoraida are residents of Blythewood, SC. They have 3 sons and 3 grandchildren. He is an ordained Baptist minister.

Johnny joined the Dunbar staff 23 years ago in 1989. Johnny has been in the funeral business since 1970. He is a graduate of Gupton- Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta Ga. He is an avid sportsman who travels all over the world hunting and fishing.

Jenel Burkhardt has been with Dunbar Funeral Home since the opening in October of 2009. She and her family have lived in the Blythewood area for about five years. Her husband David is retired from the Army, and they are the parents of three children.

Marty joined Dunbar Funeral Home in 2003. He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Mortuary Science in 1987.

Jerry a native of Chesterfield County, is a graduate of Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service, Houston, Texas. He started a career in the funeral business upon graduating from high school in 1993 and worked for more than 7 years before relocating to Houston. Jerry has returned to Dunbar to fulfill his passion to serve the families of our community. He has a son Jaydan.

Shellie is a Michigan native who came to South Carolina to join the Dunbar staff in February of 2008. She is a member and volunteer with the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Columbia. She is also on the board for the Greater Columbia Widowed Persons Organization. She is married to Curtis and they have three children.

Greg is a native of Columbia, graduated from Chapin High School and the University of South Carolina. He has been employed by Dunbar since 1986 and is a Fifth Generation family member. A member of the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association, he is currently serving as past-president and is a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church.

Gerald has been with Dunbar Funeral home as a part time employee for more than 20 years. Because of his familiarity with the majority of the families in the community, he is frequently asked to help with the services in one or more of his duties, driving the family limousine, acting as host at the visitation, and or singing at a service.

Mary is a native of Saluda, SC. She joined Dunbar Funeral Home in 1989 after retiring from Ag First Farm Credit Bank after 20 years of service. She has 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren. Mary is a devoted sponsor representative of the Greater Columbia Widowed Persons Organization. She lives in West Columbia and is a member of First Baptist Church, Columbia.

Rick is a native of Columbia and joined Dunbar Funeral Home in 2009 after retiring from the US Department of Defense. He is a corporate sponsor representative of the Greater Columbia Widowed Persons Organization and is active in the Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce and various civic and religious associations.

Bob Humphries has lived in Blythewood since 1963. He is married to Pat Humphries and they have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Bob is a retired real estate broker and Pat is retired from the University of South Carolina. They are members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Blythewood.

Linda Jacobs began working part time at Dunbar 3 years ago after retiring from the SC Department of Environmental Control. Linda assists families with obituaries, death certificates and insurance issues, and interacts with phone calls to assist them with their needs. She also works at our Northeast Chapel as needed.

Kristin Jewell and her family have been active members of the Blythewood/Northeast Columbia community for several years. Kristin started in the funeral business when she was 15 years old. With more than 20 years experience as a licensed funeral director and embalmer, she considers it a privilege to be serving the families of Northeast Columbia.

Donald Kay is a retired Professor of English, having taught for fiftenn years at the University of Alabama and retiring as Director of Development Research at the University of South Carolina. He holds a PH.D. degree from the University of Tennessee. He was formerly Executive Director of the South Atlantic Modern Language Association and Editor of the South Atlantic Review. He has been with Dunbar for more than 5 years.

Jessica began her career in the funeral business in 1998, prior to attending Gupton –Jones College of Mortuary of Science. She graduated in 1999 and became licensed in 2001. She joined Dunbar in 2008. She is a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue and is active in many capacities within the Synagogue. She is also on the board of Joy in the Morning, Center for Life Losses.

Greg McMahan performs cremation services, Greg, originally from North Carolina, retired after 25 years in the financial industry. He lives with his wife Cheryle in the Summit community of Northeast Columbia. He is a member of the Living Springs Lutheran Church and enjoys time with his grandchildren.

Brenda was born, raised and grew up in the Northeast area of Columbia. She is a graduate of Richland Northeast High School, attended the University of Maine at Presque Isle and has taken computer classes at Midlands Technical College. She has over thirty years of customer service experience. Brenda and her family live in Blythewood. She considers it an honor and privilege to be of service to the families of Dunbar Funeral Home.

Kenny is a native of Great Falls, SC and began his career in the funeral business at the young age of sixteen. After completing high school he attended Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, GA and graduated in 2008. Kenny is on the Great Falls Town Council, he is an active member of the Great Falls Masonic Lodge #277. He is married to Meredith and they have one daughter Eden.

Dale a 1990 graduate of Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, GA grew up in Aiken, SC. He is a licensed Funeral Director in SC and GA. Dale is married to Stacey and has two step children, Ryan and Taylor.He enjoys college football and fishing.

Anne is a graduate of Hammond School and Midlands Technical College. Ann started her career at Dunbar 25 years ago as a funeral director. She is currently the Pre-Need Counselor helping families plan their funerals in advance. Ann is a member of Shandon Presbyterian Church and the daughter of Jack & Zelle Burnside.

Robert has been with Dunbar Funeral Home for more than 15 years. Prior to coming to Dunbar, Robert retired from the City of Columbia as a superintendent of the parking division where he worked for 30 years.

Kimberly Rodriguez has been with Dunbar Funeral Home since the opening of the Northeast Chapel in 2009. She is an administrative assistant with an extensive background in customer service. She is a long-time resident of the Northeast area, just recently moving to the Blythewood community.

Lynn has been with Dunbar Funeral Home since 2000. She was given the administrator of the year award in 2003, 2004, and 2005. She is a corporate sponsor representative of the Greater Columbia Widowed Person Organization. Lynn is married and has two children and three grandchildren.

Paul is a native of Columbia. He is a 1980 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a B.S. Degree in Economics and Business Management. He has been with Dunbar Funeral Home for six years. He enjoys the beach, fishing, watching the Carolina Gamecocks, playing baseball, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Betsy is a funeral director and serves as senior advisor to Dunbar Funeral Home. She has been with Dunbar for more than 25 years. Her great-great grandfather started the funeral Home in 1884 and she is the 5th consecutive member of her family to be associated with the company. She is married and has two sons and a daughter.

Charles has been a funeral director and embalmer for over 34 years. A 1976 graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He has been with Dunbar since 1993. Prior to coming to Dunbar he was with Charles R. Shealy & Sons Funeral Home in Batesburg- Leesville SC for over 20 years. He is a member of the First Calvary Baptist Church of Leesville.

Joey grew up in a small farming community in Williamsburg SC and is a 1978 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta Ga. He has been with Dunbar Funeral Home for 37 years and is honored to assist families in their time of need. He enjoys the beach and cooking in his spare time.

John has been with Dunbar Funeral Home for 44 years. He and his wife, Barbara, have been married for 43 years. They have one daughter and a grandson.

Dave was born and raised in York, SC. After graduating from Clemson University in 2010, he went on to attend mortuary college. After completing his funeral director’s apprenticeship in Rock Hill, SC, he joined the staff of Dunbar Funeral Home in 2012. Dave enjoys the outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends.

Bill has been with Dunbar Funeral Home for 6 years assisting in many aspects of the funeral business. Prior to coming to Dunbar, Bill worked for the United States Post Office for 30 years, retiring in 2003. Bill is married to Susan and they have 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
